Is it safe to have intercourse during pregnancy?

Sex is a normal and natural part of pregnancy if you have a normal pregnancy. Intercourse and penetration do not harm the baby because the baby is protected by the abdomen and the uterus of the muscular wall. Moreover, your baby is also cushioned by the amniotic fluid.

Orgasmic contractions are not the same as contractions during labor. However, as a general safety rule, some doctors advise avoiding having sex during the final weeks of pregnancy. They have a belief that the hormones in the semen called prostaglandins can cause contractions to stimulate. One of the exceptions may be for women who are overdue and would want to induce labor. Some doctors believe that prostaglandins in the semen induce labor in pregnancy that is either full term or past the due date. Since the gel that is used to ripen the cervix and induce labor also comprises prostaglandins.

Nevertheless, some doctors also contradict this. They say that the semen and labor connection is more theory and does not trigger labor.
